Farah’s been a star of ours working with Samsung since 2019 where she started in a store-based role before quickly progressing through to the manager role she’s in now. Having been part of the Blue Square family for nearly five years, we wanted to get a snapshot from Farah on her career journey, how she’s progressed in her roles, and her advice for others who want to do the same.

So Farah, tell us where your career started with Blue Square and where you are now.

I started my career as an In-Store Development Executive (ISDE) in 2019, gaining valuable experience for 2 months. After that, I transitioned into the Training team in the roles of IM Retail Trainer & IM National Trainer, where I stayed for just over 3 years, honing my skills & building my expertise. In 2022, I moved into my current role as Operations & Communications Manager and have been proudly rocking it ever since!

How did you gain the experience you needed to progress?

I’m always pushing myself to deliver my best work by continuously learning new skills and taking on new challenges. I’m all for constructive feedback and guidance as it allows me to improve and grow professionally.

What's the most valuable thing you’ve learnt on your career journey at Blue Square so far?

Asking questions is super beneficial! It helps you learn and grow, shows your curiosity to improve, and the answers you get can really boost your performance and decision-making skills. So go ahead, don’t be afraid to ask questions and enjoy the rewards!

What’s made you want to stay working with us?

I really appreciate the chances to learn and improve my skills, and the support in mapping out a clear career path aligned with my goals. Plus, it’s important to me to feel like I belong, and that there’s respect and trust within the organization.

What would your top tip be for others wanting to progress in their role?

By actively engaging with professionals in your industry, you not only expand your knowledge but also stay up to date with the latest trends, best practices, and innovative ideas. This continuous learning and exchange of insights can give you a competitive edge and contribute to your professional growth.
